MONTHLY MEETINGS

 

Third TUESDAY of the month in the Link Auditorium of the Bethany Care Centre, 916 18a St NW , Calgary, AB . Doors open at 6:30pm, meeting starts at 7:00pm.Please wear a mask and use the North Entrance(6th floor) Go down to the 5th floor auditorium. This avoids contact with the residents of Bethany.

 

Regular meetings may include mini-workshops, guest speakers, donations to the charity basket and, of course, "Show and Tell".

KNIT AND SHARE
 

We meet from 10am-3pm on the 2nd Saturday of the month.  Knit & Share is free for guild members, no preregistration required.  Workshops held in conjunction with Knit & Share do require pre-registration. Members will receive an email notice of Knit and Share at the beginning of the month.

 

Join this friendly group for a day of enjoyment - knitting, chatting  and inspiration! 

GUILD RETREATS

 

Gilli-hook's spring retreat was a great success. The hotel completely amazed and spoiled us because waiting at our places in the meeting room was a wonderful stainless steel water bottle with Gilli-hook 2024 on it. One of our group's husband had come with her and he got a water bottle with Gilli-hook, special escort on his!  As always all the staff were so welcoming and looked as if they were genuinely delighted to see us.

We had decided to have a retreat project this time and decided upon Newfoundland Mitts a free pattern on ravelry.com by CreativeWhimsy. Our speediest knitter knit one and a half pairs of mitts and our slowest (me) one fingerless glove.

​

Thank you to the local knitting stores who gave our group a generous discount. They are the Yak Yarnery and The Twisted Barn.

 

A Fall Retreat is being held 17-20th October in the Canalta Hotel in Rocky Mountain House. Contact  gillihookknitters@gmail.com for registration and pricing information.

Spring and Fall Retreats are for current members and friends of Gilli-hook Knitters Guild.

CALGARY STAMPEDE: July 2024

Each year we participate in the Celebration of the Guilds,  on the first Sunday of Stampede Week July 7, 2024.  Visitors are encouraged to give knitting a try to get a feel for how satisfying and fulfilling knitting can be. See our personal work displayed in the showcase and in the gazebo..
